To return America to its foundations, citizens must learn again how the Declaration of Independence makes the United States different from any other nation in history. The Declaration says that rights come not from a king, the government or a Constitution, but from God. The Declaration also says that a government was to be formed with the consent of the governed to make Godgiven rights secure. Betrayed by the Bench examines how two academic theories of the 19th Century (Hegel and Darwin) transformed legal education, the courts and the culture.
