Product Description Die Anzahl der Demenzkranken wird sich, falls es keine wesentlichen Fortschritte in der Behandlung der Demenz gibt, bis zum Jahre 2050 verdoppelt haben. Demenz ist eine Erkrankung, die vor allem im hheren Lebensalter auftritt. Fr den stationren Pflegesektor wurden die Kosten der Dementenbetreuung allein fr das Jahr 2002 auf 3,6 Mrd. Euro geschtzt. Es ist auerdem absehbar, dass dem stationren Alten und Pflegeheimsektor in der Betreuung von Demenzkranken eine immer bedeutendere Rolle zukommen wird, in den Pflegeheimen wurde ein Anstieg der Pflegebedrftigen von 2003 bis 2007 um 5 % verzeichnet. Die MitarbeiterInnen von Pflegeheimen kritisieren jedoch, dass eine dementengerechte Versorgung mit der jetzigen Pflegeversicherung nicht zu gewhrleisten ist. Die Pflegestufen bercksichtigen nur den Zeitaufwand fr die krperliche Pflege. Der eigentliche Mehraufwand fr die soziale und psychologische Betreuung, einschlielich einer dementengerechten Millieugestaltung, wird jedoch nicht einbezogen. Wie eine dementengerechte Betreuung in Pflegeheimen aussehen kann, wird an durchgefhrten Modellprojekten in Hamburg und Niedersachsen dargestellt.
