About the Author Lihua Yu is an internationally renowned Chinese American author whose other work, Palm Tree Revisited, was selected as one of the Top 100 Chinese Literature of the 20th Century. Her earlier works were mainly focused on the experiences of Taiwan students in America back in the 1960s, of their struggling and hardworking stories on school works, relationships, and careers that these people faced in a foreign land. The vast emotional expressions of her characters grabbed the hearts of many readers, and won her the honorable title of the Ancestor of foreign student literature. Lately her works have been more focused on the Chinese culture and locale, emphasizing the cultural traditions of minority cultures. As her books popularity swept across China, a Lihua Yu Lecture Series was specially set up at the Hunan University.Ms. Yu graduated from the History Department of National Taiwan University in 1953. Her articles had already been published in the Literary Magazine while she was still in school. In 1956 she received her Masters in News Media from UCLA, and won the first place Literary Arts Award sponsorted by MGM with her English short novel, Sorrow on the Yang Tze River. In 1962 she became known to the literary world with her long novel, Dream of Blue River. In 1968, Ms. Yu began teaching Chinese Literature at the SUNY V Albany, making herself a scholar along side being a writer. After her retirement, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and continued her writing. Between Parting and Goodbye is another long novel since The Fallen of an Angel published in 1996.
