Seit den 1930er Jahren glaubten viele Bevlkerungs und Sozialwissenschaftler, dass die quantitative und die 'qualitative' Bevlkerungsentwicklung auch ber die Planung sozialer Positionen beeinflussbar sei. Sozialtechniken waren inhrenter Bestandteil dieser Demographie. Nicht die soziale Realitt, auch nicht tatschliche sozialpolitische Manahmen und deren ungleichheitshemmende oder ungleichsfrdernde Wirkungen sind hier Gegenstand der Untersuchung, sondern ausschlielich die Wahrnehmung von 'Bevlkerung, Ungleichheit, Auslese' im Fokus der sozialwissenschaftlichen Bevlkerungsforschung zwischen 1930 und 1960. Diese Rekonstruktion erscheint notwendig, weil in Zeiten wachsender sozialer Ungleichheit in Vergessenheit zu geraten droht, wie dieses Thema in der damaligen Bevlkerungsforschung verarbeitet wurde.
