Einleitend wird das Ausma der internationalen Integration der Lnder der Dritten Welt dargestellt. Dies erfolgt anhand der einer Darstellung der Entwicklung des Handels mit Gter und Dienstleistungen, der internationalen Kapitalflsse, der Migrationsbewegungen von Arbeitskrften und Humankapital und der globalen Informationsstrme. Anschlieend erfolgt eine Bewertung der Auswirkungen in verschiedenen Kategorien: So werden die Folgen auf das wirtschaftliche Wachstum, auf Armut, Vermgensverteilung und Beschftigung, auf die konomische Stabilitt sowie auf politische Systeme und Kultur diskutiert. Exemplarisch fr die Bewertung wurde China, Benin und Argentinien gewhlt. Als Ergebnis lsst sich festhalten, dass die drei gewhlten Fallbeispiele exemplarisch fr die jeweiligen Kontinente stehen: Whrend die Folgen der Globalisierung fr Asien tendenziell positiv zu bewerten sind, zeigt sich fr Lateinamerika ein sehr gemischtes Bild. Afrika konnte hingegen an den Wohlstandssteigerungen bisher kaum partizipieren.
