Jordanien tut so, als wre es eine Demokratie, aber das ist nicht der Fall" (Lenner 2007 online). Dieses Zitat spiegelt laut Lenner die Meinungen vieler Jordanier wider; und das in einem Land, in dem es Wahlen und ein Parteiensystem gibt. Die Frage, die sich stellt, ist nun, ob diese Einschtzung berechtigt ist und ob Jordanien wirklich eine funktionierende Demokratie ist. Interessant ist hierbei die Rolle der islamistischen Bewegung. In den westlichen Staaten wird oftmals davon gesprochen, die islamistischen Bewegungen in den arabischen Lndern seien ein Hindernis und eine Gefahr fr eine Demokratisierung. Diese Hausarbeit versucht nun, dieser These nachzugehen. Besonders bercksichtigt werden die Beziehungen zwischen dem jordanischen Staat und der islamistischen Bewegung der Moslembruderschaft sowie ihrem politischen Teil, der IAF (Islamic Action Front). Es soll festgestellt werden, ob die Islamisten durch ihre Beziehung zum Staat und insbesondere zum Knigshaus, ein Hindernis fr eine Demokratisierung darstellen oder ob sie eventuell sogar ein frdernder Faktor von Demokratie sind, als was sie sich selbst gerne sehen.
