English summary: Biblical gardens or bible gardens have first been created in an AngloAmerican Protestant context. During the final decades of the 20th century they became popular all over the Christian world. Biblical gardens show plants and symbols that refer to the texts of the Holy Scriptures. Katrin Stuckrath analyses as many as 26 biblical gardens in Germany kept by Protestant and Catholic congregations. The author not only inventories the gardens, but analyses their didactic intentions and focuses on the multiple functions they fulfil in a parochial surrounding. Interdisciplinary inspection of the meaning of biblical gardens within the Christian history of gardening, of the history of research on biblical plants and of philosophical as well as theological discourses on gardens demonstrate the complexity and impact of the subject. Es sind Aussenanlagen, in denen mithilfe von Pflanzen der Bibel, Pflanzen aus christlicher Namenstradition und symbolischen Elementen biblische Texte und Themen in Szene gesetzt werden. Deshalb bilden kirchliche Institutionen die grosste Tragergruppe der deutschlandweit uber einhundert und weltweit uber funfhundert Bibelgarten. Katrin Stuckrath hat 26 Bibelgarten von evangelischen und katholischen Kirchengemeinden untersucht. Ihr Ziel ist es, Bibelgarten entstehungsgeschichtlich zu erklaren, sie methodisch hinsichtlich ihrer Gestalt und Funktion zu beschreiben und zu analysieren sowie aus historischer, kulturtheoretischer und theologischer Perspektive zu erforschen. Sie inventarisierte die Garten und befragte die Gartengestalter hinsichtlich ihrer Intentionen, von denen didaktische Ziele (Bibel, Schopfungs und Symboldidaktik) die wichtigsten ausmachen. Sie konnte Bibelgarten jedoch nicht auf eine Funktion reduzieren, wie sie durch die Analysen zu den Resonanzen der Besucher auf Bibelgarten und zu den vielfaltigen realen Nutzungsformen von Bibelgarten zeigen konnte. Untersuchungen zu ideengeschichtlichen Vorlaufern von Bibelgarten in der Geschichte der Gartenkunst und zur Geschichte der theologischen Identifizierung von Pflanzen der Bibel verorten Bibelgarten in der allgemeinen christlichen Geistesgeschichte. Kulturtheoretische, religionshermeneutische und theologische Uberlegungen zu Garten und Bibelgarten erweisen, dass Garten auch fur die Theologie einen interessanten Gegenstand darstellen.
