About the Author Elizabeth Margaret Kerr was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. She taught English at the University of Minnesota beginning in 1930 and received her Ph.D there in 1941. She became an assistant professor at Rockford College, and eventually moved to the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (then Wisconsin State College) where she eventually became a fulltime professor. She retired from this position in 1970.
