India is worlds largest democratic Nation and has been identified as the second populous country in the world. It had been in the list of backward countries and is now being considered as a developing nation. The country was under the rule of British for about two centuries and got its independence in 1947. The people of India are heterogenous consisting multi religious, multi languages and multi ethnic like, the main Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddist and others. The main part of the Indian society is Hindus, formed on the basis of varna system, consisting of caste populations namely. Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vysyas and Sudras. These ethnic formations have their genesis in occupation. The social hierarchy is rigid. Brahmins the first in hierarchy are strict vegetarians, practice education and teach life matters. Kshatriyas are the rulers and take the job of protecting people by way of administration. They stand next to Brahmins. The third in social hierarchy are Vysyas. They are business people and trade is their main occupation. Dr. Ambedkar worked for the eradication of this social ostracization.
