Bagworms are reported from Asia, Africa and the western Hemisphere. The insect was first collected by a swedish scientific expedition visited Sudan in 1901 and was described and named by H. Rebel in 1906?. In the Sudan, Auchmophila kordofensis is widespread in the poor savannah belt, particularly in north Kordofan, with Acacia nubica and A. tortilis being its main hosts . It is also reported from the Arabian Peninsula, where it is sustained on Acacia tortilis.
