La zona central de la Patagonia Argentina se encuentra sometida a explotacin petrolera y sus suelos se caracterizan por ser deficientes en nitrgeno. Los hidrocarburos contaminantes de un suelo pueden ser remediados utilizando mtodos biolgicos, para lo que es muy importante el nitrgeno biodisponible. Dicho nutriente es esencial para una adecuada formacin de biomasa microbiana. Los procesos biolgicos se pueden realizar en deficiencia de nitrgeno, pero con una menor eficiencia. En este trabajo, se estudi el efecto de la presencia y ausencia de nitrgeno sobre la degradacin de hidrocarburos alifticos y aromticos, por medio de un estudio en microcosmos y el aislamiento y caracterizacin de cepas bacterianas a partir del suelo contaminado, capaces de biodegradar hidrocarburos en presencia de concentraciones deficientes de nitrgeno. A tal efecto se planteo como objetivo general del trabajo estudiar las capacidades de biodegradacin por parte de comunidades y cepas aisladas que crecen a expensas de hidrocarburos y en dficit de nitrgeno y su posible uso como inoculantes para la biodegradacin de hidrocarburos en suelos esquelticos.
