En nuestra sociedad hacen su aparicin las tcnicas de ADN para identidad y filiacin en respuesta a una coyuntura histrica entre los aos 197683, en funcin de la bsqueda de hijos de desaparecidos por razones polticoideolgicas. A partir de esta demanda, con el correr del tiempo, se han ampliado los motivos de solicitud de estudios de ADN. Y stos otros motivos son los que intentamos sealar. El presente trabajo es el resultado de una investigacin que se interesa, desde la perspectiva biotica, de las caractersticas de la poblacin que consulta por estudios de ADN para determinacin de identidad y filiaciones biolgicas, en su composicin y en los motivos principales que conducen a la misma. Se realiz en la ciudad de Mar del Plata (Pcia de Bs. As. Argentina), en una ONG de Gentica Humana, que brinda asistencia, y hace docencia e investigacin en el tema. Interes la modalidad de abordaje, profundizando en las estrategias metodolgicas del proceso de atencin. La finalidad est orientada a incrementar el conocimiento de la problemtica, reconocer aspectos conducentes a la optimizacin del asesoramiento para la toma de decisiones
