So bedeutend wie der Mann selbst (...) sind die vielen Krfte, die seine Umwelt gestalteten und dann, in gewissem Mae, durch seine Bemhungen umgeformt wurden. Es ist deshalb notwendig, in einer Biographie des ersten deutschen Reichskanzlers auch die (...) Entwicklung des (...) geistigen Lebens, insoweit Bismarck davon beeinflut wurde oder auch nicht (...)'1 zu untersuchen und zu beleuchten. Die Politik unter Bismarck wurde bereits zur Genge in einschlgiger Fachliteratur analysiert, diskutiert und ausformuliert den Gestalten jedoch, die hinter dem politischen Engagement standen und offensichtlich den weiteren Hauptbestandteil in Bismarcks Dasein darstellen sollten, wurde meist wenig Beachtung geschenkt: den unzhligen Frauen an der Seite des ersten Staatsmannes. Diese Arbeit soll sich nun mit einigen ausgewhlten Frauen aus dem Leben Bismarcks beschftigen, sowie mit dem Einfluss, den sie auf ihn und seinen politischen Werdegang ausbten. Dies sind auf der einen Seite Familienangehrige wie seine Mutter Wilhelmine von Bismarck, seine Schwester Malwine sowie seine Braut und Ehefrau Johanna. Auf der anderen Seite hatte er zahlreiche Affren, von denen wir uns auf Pauline Lucca, Laura Russell, Isabella LorainSmith und auerdem Katharina Orloff beschrnken wollen. Auch Marie von Thadden als langjhrige Freundin Bismarcks soll nicht unerwhnt bleiben. Wichtig ist dabei jedoch immer, die eigentliche Biographie Bismarcks nicht auer Acht zu lassen.
