The assignment: travel back in time 40 years to Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1993, to shoot a documentary concerning the acclaimed fiction writer Joel Duvells own first job as a platoon leader in the United States Army. Over a sixweek production, as the film crew documents the young officers life, we witness an artist in gestation, struggling with the consequences of his own choices, and painstakingly acquiring the knowledge and skills he would later employ in the pursuit of a much different vocation. BLUE SIX is a story of resiliency and perseverance; of staying in the fight to secure ones place in the world. About the Author JUDE JOSEPH LOVELL was educated at Xavier University (Ohio) and The New School. His fiction, essays, and reviews have appeared in numerous magazines, including Paste, America, Rock & Sling, St. Austin Review, Dr. Hurley's Snake Oil Cure, eFiction, Touchstone, The Other Journal, and Xavier. He lives in the Lehigh Valley, PA, with his wife and four children.
