Max Murphy, the allstar shortstop for the St. Louis Cardinals, marries his high school sweetheart and settles down to play his second year of major league baseball but runs afoul of the evil and sadistic Josh Allen, who has his henchmen make several attempts on Maxs life. Max learns that the hitmen are members of the Chicago Mafia headed by Don Spiletto. Taking matters into his own hands, Max pays the don a visit but gets nowhere with the don, who denies knowing who was trying to kill him. After a second visit to the don, Max learns that the killers are members of the Ku Klux Klan headed by Josh Allen. Finally when another attempt on his life is made and one of his teammates is shot, Max takes matters into his own hands and challenges Josh Allen and the Klan with startling results.
