Bud(...) fut publi en 1938 et diffus dans un cercle trs restreint d'initis. Morihei Ueshiba tait alors g de cinquantecinq ans, au mieux de sa forme physique et mentale. Ce livre est rest le seul manuel d'enseignement pour lequel il dmontra luimme les techniques qui servirent d'illustrations, et pour lequel il s'attacha fixer sur le papier l'essentiel de sa philosophie.. Quoiqu'il ait t ralis il y a presque 80 ans dans un monde fondamentalement diffrent, Bud(...) est hors d'ge , comme tous les classiques. Quelques rfrences un vieil ordre imprial nous disent son anciennet, la langue utilise a un lger parfumd'archasme, le texte, lui, ne date pas. C'est la trace crite du message de OSensei : le bud(...) est un chemin spirituel qui conduit l'illumination, la paix, la vrit, la bont et la beaut... et ce message ne peut pas vieillir. Quant la valeur des techniques ellesmmes, la mise en place du systme de l'akido en 1942, une poque o il atteint sa pleine maturit, fut directement et trs largement inspire des principes et des techniques exposs dans Bud(...).. La formulation est concise, voire allusive, ainsi qu'il est d'usage dans ce type d'ouvrage destin tre accompagn d'explications orales dispenses par des instructeurs qualifis. La traduction, excute par des experts contemporains, a t aussi fidle que possible et suit le plan du livre..
