El surgimiento de consumidores cada vez ms preocupados por el origen y composicin de los alimentos ha provocado un aumento de las exigencias de inocuidad para la produccin agrcola en las ltimas dcadas. Esto ha derivado en la elaboracin de normas que aseguren dichos objetivos, denominadas genricamente Buenas Prcticas Agrcolas (BPA). El cultivo de papa es una actividad de gran importancia en muchas regiones de la Argentina, a la vez que posee una participacin significativa en la dieta de los consumidores locales. Sin embargo, la escasa aplicacin de BPA en dicho sector podra estar limitando las posibilidades de desarrollo agrcola y el acceso a nuevos mercados, y poniendo en riesgo la calidad de los alimentos producidos. En este sentido, es de inters conocer los aspectos econmicos, sociales y culturales que se constituyen en incentivos y desincentivos para la adopcin de estas prcticas. Este trabajo es el resultado de la tesis de graduacin de la autora, en el que se aborda esta problemtica por medio de una investigacin exploratoria, intentando dar cuenta del estado de la cuestin y brindar lineamientos para acciones correctivas.
