This book is Dr. Jaeok Lee's PhD thesis. It introduces a pituitary hormone, prolactin (PRL) known as a lactogenic hormone. Mysteriouly, PRL is present in all vertabrates not only in mammals but also in birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, and has a lots different biological funtions such as metabolism, immunity, antiangiogenesis, etc. The species and location specific function of the hormone has not been completely understood yet. Here, you can see that a very less concentration (pM) of the fragments and 14 mer peptide derived from buffalo pituitary PRL has antiangiogenic function through an interference of nitrc oxide pathway. Moreover, this book will help you to understand how to approach and to purify a target protein, and how to characterize its biochemical and biological properties.
