Diese Strategie ist solange von Vorteil, sofern der geplante Wachstumsweg eingehalten werden kann. Zu einem Existenzbedrohlichen Problem werden kann diese Strategie aber bei Marktschwankungen oder bei einer Rezession, wie sie unter anderem die deutsche Wirtschaft in den Jahren 2008 und 2009 erlebte. Eine zu groe Fertigungs und Leistungstiefe kann in vielen Fllen dazu fhren, dass Unternehmen nicht flexibel genug auf vernderte Marktentwicklungen reagieren knnen. Entscheidend ist also, dass die vorhandenen Kapazitten optimal eingesetzt werden. Ein wesentlicher Hebel dazu ist die optimale OutsourcingStrategie eines Unternehmens. Das klassische Outsourcing kann dabei schon als alter Hut" bezeichnet werden, da sich bereits Mitte der 80er Jahre die ersten groen Projekte vollzogen. Relativ neu ist aber die Idee des Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). Hierbei werden einzelne bisher unternehmensintern betriebene Prozesse auf spezialisierte externe Dienstleister bertragen, welche durch ihre Fhigkeiten und Ressourcen den speziellen Prozess zu geringeren Kosten und in besserer Qualitt erzeugen knnen.
