These wellreproduced, previously unpublished photographs about Dolce Vita the 'cafA of stars' document coffee's relation to life and style in Rome in the 1950s and 60s. Many of these images were taken by paparazzi, considered then as photographers on the forefront of new realism and photojournalism. They feature stars such as Dustin Hoffman, Mohammed Ali, Sophia Loren, Cary Grant, Anthony Quinn, Ingrid Bergman, and Joe Di Maggioall enjoying a cup of coffee. According to essayist Vincenzo Mollica, 'They were important personalities in that era when everything gravitated around the long meandering avenue of Via Veneto running from Piazzale to Piazza Barberini in Rome. I'm sure that it would have been impossible to create that exciting society life animating the pages of the newspapers of the time.'
