Este trabajo consisti en determinar la influencia que tiene la calidad de la auditora sobre la calidad de la informacin financiera presentada en los estados financieros de las empresas. En este primer volumen se presentan las teoras y la revisin de la literatura de las variables estudiadas. En primer lugar se describen los aspectos empresariales de las complejas empresas petroleras internacionales, con nfasis en el caso venezolano por la relevancia y las particularidades que reviste en la actualidad. Seguidamente se estudian las normas internacionales de contabilidad y de informacin financiera aplicables a las petroleas, relacionndolas con las teoras de Stakeholders y de Responsabilidad Social. Posteriormente se analiza con profundidad el concepto de calidad de la informacin financiera, sus distintos mtodos de medicin, pero sobre todo, el usado por los auditores externos de estados financieros. Finalmente se expone con absoluta claridad el tema de la calidad de la auditora de estados financieros, su concepto, el marco terico, su control de calidad y los rganos supervisores externos de las firmas de auditora en Europa y en los Estados Unidos de Norteamrica.
