Original Art and Stories by Florence A. Will Fleming who was an Artist in Residence in Big Bend National Park, Texas from 19821996. The artist describes her adventures sitting on site as she painted landscapes, cactus, and animals in this beautiful federal park in the southernmost portion of the U.S. Rocky Mountains. Sites were often remote and dangerous due to wildlife such as mountain lions and uncertainty associated with drug trafficking along the United StatesMexico border. Her commitment to capturing the rugged beauty of this land, in spite of these many challenges, may serve as an inspiration to others.
