Charlton Standard Catalogue Canadian Coins, long considered the undisputed authority on numismatics in Canada, is celebrating 50 years of continuous publication. The 56th edition, to be released in July, will mark the golden anniversary (19522002) of Canadas most popular coin catalogue. First published in 1952, the 34page booklet has grown to a new height of 368 pages with this edition, filled with information on Canadian coins. The early issues of Victoria and Edward VII have continued their upward price climb, setting new highs for coins in the VG (very good) to EF (extremely fine) grades. Now some of the scarce George VI items are starting to experience that same upward price pressure.Tracking price movements, as well as keeping abreast of new issues by the Royal Canadian Mint, makes the Standard a must to own. Three new double date varieties, along with the newly discovered variety, the 1996 Near and Far Six Nickels are included in the 56th edition.Starting in 1999, the Royal Canadian Mint began issuing our subsidiary coinage 1 up to the 50 in a new composition made from a patent process invented at the Mint. The new coins carry a P mint mark (multiply plated steel) to differentiate them from older issues. All this and more is covered in the new and completely revised 56th edition. This is a publication that no person interested in numismatics can afford to be without!
