El capital social es un nuevo concepto propuesto como una estrategia de xito en los programas de salud pblica. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo conocer la existencia y grado de asociacin entre capital social y experiencia de caries dental. La investigacin fue transversal, observacional y analtica. La muestra fue de 30 escolares de 12 aos de edad del Distrito de CantaLima (Per). El capital social de las familias fue medido utilizando el instrumento Short version of Adapted Social Capital Assessment Tool (SASCAT), y la experiencia de caries dental mediante el ndice CPOD de los escolares. Se obtuvo que el ndice CPOD fue de 1.93 indicando baja severidad. Existi una asociacin de 49.1% entre el capital social de las familias y la experiencia de caries dental de los escolares. Se concluye que existi asociacin moderada entre el capital social de las familias y la experiencia de caries dental en escolares de 12 aos de edad residentes en el Distrito de Canta, LimaPer.
