Las Misiones Sociales se han convertido en Venezuela en el eje fundamental de la Poltica Social impulsada por el Gobierno de Hugo Chvez Fras. Esta forma de intervencin social fue promovida a partir de la experiencia en la implementacin de la Misin Barrio Adentro, pionera de los programas de este tipo, hoy de alcance nacional. En el presente libro se evala este programa bandera del actual Gobierno venezolano, exhibido ante la opinin pblica local e internacional como ejemplo a seguir en su concepcin, eficiencia y resultados. Se busca indagar si la Misin Barrio Adentro cumple con los objetivos para los que fue diseada, ms all de los relacionados con los aspectos de la salud, concretamente los referidos a la participacin ciudadana y el capital social, que involucra a la poblacin objetivo de la misma. En este sentido, dada las dificultades para acceder a informacin oficial, se utiliza la Evaluacin desde la Perspectiva del Beneficiario, tambin conocida como Evaluacin Participativa, alternativa efectiva para obtener informacin confiable de los usuarios del programa, lo que garantiza una visin ms objetiva.
