An cuando un atleta est en ptimas condiciones fsicas y tenga un excelente dominio de la tcnica y la tctica del deporte, no es posible alcanzar ptimos resultados si su estado psicolgico no es el ms adecuado, pues esto influye negativamente en su actuacin competitiva. La influencia del estado psicolgico del atleta es multifactorial, y el entrenador debe poseer los conocimientos requeridos para el control y regulacin de este estado; por ello la importancia de nuestro trabajo, esto lo obliga a conocerla personalidad de cada atleta, sus necesidades, intereses y motivaciones, entre otros aspectos. Uno de los componentes de la personalidad ms importante es el temperamento, ya que determina la dinmica de la actividad psquica, factor decisivo en la ejecucin de las acciones tcnicotcticas.
