If the caribou die, then we die. These few words speak eloquently to the significance of caribou for northern peoples. They were spoken not by a wise old chief, but by a 13yearold Dene youth in 2007 during a hearing regarding uranium exploration on the caribou wintering grounds.Right now there is urgent, widespread concern about the future of the most central of species: caribou. Caribou and the North brings both the facts and the feelings of the current situation to a North American readership. The writers look at why we need to conserve the caribou, the threats that have faced caribou in the past, present, and future, and the actions that we can take. Also included is an appendix with uptodate information on the range, movements, habitats, numbers, population trends, and key threats to caribou in North America.

I picked up 'A Shared Future' from Caribou and the North after hearing about it through a friend. The illustrations are stunning and really add to the storytelling. It’s a great read for anyone interested in environmental issues and indigenous perspectives.

Disappointed with the Delivery Time
While 'A Shared Future' is quite informative, my experience was marred by the late delivery. The book itself is well-written but waiting extra days for it was frustrating. I wish the shipping process was smoother.

A Must-Have for Environmental Enthusiasts!
This book is a gem! Caribou and the North did an amazing job connecting storytelling with real-world issues. I bought it for my book club, and everyone loved discussing the themes about sustainability and community. Highly recommend it!

Interesting Read, Some Parts Dragged
The concept behind 'A Shared Future' is really compelling. I appreciated the insights, but I found certain chapters to be a bit lengthy and less engaging. Still worth the read if you're into social issues and indigenous rights.
