Um Jung in seinen familiren und kulturellen Beziehungen zu begreifen, wird die Biographie hinsichtlich religiser, psychologischer und historischer Aspekte analysiert. Aus dem biographischen Kontext sollen die beruflichen Wege und Abwege Jungs genauer betrachtet werden, um die Entstehungsgeschichte eines seiner Hauptwerke, des Liber Novus, zu rekonstruieren. Das Rote Buch, wie das Liber Novus bezeichnet wird, dient der Untersuchung als Quelle, da Jung in diesem Werk eigene Visionen niederschrieb und analysierte. Um den Ursprung von Visionen, Vorahnungen und anderen Phnomenen in die Arbeit zu integrieren, wird die Geschichte des Okkultismus, im Besonderen des Spiritismus, erlutert. Die Zeit des Spiritismus, in welche Jung hineingeboren wird, ist insbesondere hinsichtlich seiner Visionen von umfassender Bedeutung. Folgt man weiterhin Jungs beruflichen Werdegang, wird deutlich, dass weder Jung noch diese Arbeit innerhalb des Spiritismus verweilen knnen. Die Psychologie und Jung selbst entwickelten, unter anderem, aus dem Spiritismus die psychologische Wissenschaft der Traumdeutung. Jungs Visionen und sein Abbruch aller beruflichen Beziehungen, liegen zeitlich eng zusammen. Aus diesem Grund werden diese Aspekte in der Arbeit aufgegriffen. Die Bedeutung des familiren Hintergrundes und die damit verbundene Auseinandersetzung mit Religiositt und okkulten Phnomenen, werden in einen engen Kontext zum beruflichen Werdegang gebracht, um die Visionen zu analysieren.
