With nearly 100 fullcolor photographs, this delightful book captures the friendly and generous spirit of Swedish artist and illustrator Carl Larsson's home, Lilla Hyttns. A gift from his fatherinlaw in the late 1800's, the tworoom log house was transformed by Larsson and his wife Karin, into a homestead of bright and intimate rooms. At a time when the industrial revolution was already having its effect on the style of life, the Larssons' careful artistry and the genuine handicraft trades of the local craftsmen produced a much admired and respected dwelling. The impulsive and inventive artist loved the homestead and Larsson fans will recognize manhy of the rooms in these photographs of 'Little Hyttns' from his famous paintings and illustrations. With its liberating simplicity and charming detail, Carl Larsson's home has become the quintessential example of Swedish interior design.
