Carlos Saura trifft mit dieser Aussage die unverwechselbare Quintessenz der Carmenthematik, die bis in die heutige Zeit nichts an ihrer Anziehungskraft eingebt hat. Schon die ursprngliche 'Carmen', wie sie in der Novelle vom franzsischen Schriftsteller Prosper Mrime zu finden ist, ist eine der prgnantesten Grenzgngerinnen, die gegen die Ordnung der streng verwalteten gesellschaftlichen Werte und Normen eine Stichflamme hitziger Emotionen entgegensetzt und die Vernunft ins Abseits befrdert. Bereits Nietzsche lobte Carmen als eine Absage an die Dekadenz und ihre berwindung. Die traditionellen, moralischen und abgegriffenen Kategorien von Gut und Bse lsst das Carmen Werk hinter sich und zentralisiert das Gegenber von Liebe und Hass, Leidenschaft und Vernunft in einen neuen aber wieder erkennbaren Kontext. Dieser immer noch aktuelle Stoff der tragischen Zigeunerliebe bildete die Basis fr zahlreiche Carmenvariationen seit seiner Entstehung. Hier spielen vor allem die unterschiedlichen Betrachtungs und Leseweisen eine primre Rolle. Der Text bietet sich in den verschiedensten Blickwinkeln an, sei es zum Beispiel in der Analyse der gesellschaftlichen Randgruppierung der Zigeuner und Banditen, der tragischen Liebesgeschichte oder sogar in Bezug auf die Freudschen Aspekte der Psychoanalyse. Ich persnlich erachte die abwechslungsreichen Identifikationsangebote der Novelle gegenber dem Leser als bedeutend, welche durch die Emotionen von Liebe, Eifersucht und dem Wunsch nach Andersartigkeit verbunden mit der Faszination des Verbotenen hervorgerufen wird.
