La historia de la contaminacin atmosfrica es tan vieja como la propia humanidad, a medida que el hombre avanza en lo referente a la tecnologa, la contaminacin atmosfrica aumenta, con esto se han diversificado los contaminantes a los que la poblacin se expone, manifestndose en enfermedades respiratorias, cardiovasculares, oftlmicas; ausentismo laboral, escolar y disminucin de la esperanza de vida. La OMS (2006) refiere que ms de la mitad de la carga que supone la contaminacin atmosfrica para la salud humana recae sobre las personas de los pases en desarrollo. Miravalle es considerada la zona ms crtica de contaminacin del aire en la zona metropolitana de Guadalajara. En ella confluye por su ubicacin geogrfica toda la contaminacin atmosfrica que es generada en la metrpoli proveniente de distintas fuentes permanentes como los automviles y la industria y espordicas como incendios y quemas en campos de cultivo por lo que generalmente presenta ndices de calidad del aire fuera de Norma durante el ao. El objetivo de este trabajo es proporcionar una aproximacin ante este panorama de riesgo e impacto a la salud por contaminacin del aire.
