This study aimed at assessing the causes of skills shortages in Zimbabwe.Zimbabwe Universities were used to collect data which was used in the study.Some of the objectives of the study included the following to determine the probability of skills shortages given the current remunerations in the Zimbabwean Universities ,to estimate the effect of size of the University on the Shortage of lecturing skills,to determine the contribution of ownership of the University on the shortage of skills.The literature focused on the theoretical and the emperical review.Skills shortages were grouped into different groups.Questionnaires and interviews were used to gather data which was used to deduce a probit model.The results were presented using the descriptive and the emperical approach.The study showed that wages are the major causes of skills shortages in Zimbabwe Uninversities.The study reccommended that universities need to help their skilled labour by training and suporting them to achieve better qualifications.Finally the study recommended that further studies can can be udertaken to establish other causes of skills shortages in Zimbabwe Universities.
