Eddy began the process with the Arizona Mineral Belt Railroad, intended to bridge the gap between the SP at Tucson and the Atlantic & Pacific (SF) at Needles, California but which went bankrupt. The Central Arizona Railroad purchased the assets and began to haul timber to the Flagstaff mill. This book provides not only a detailed explanation of the various logging railroads that worked the northern pine forests of Arizona but also the fruitless efforts by management over the years to expand the railroad into a major line. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos. With rosters, maps, and bibliography and decorative end papers showing map of railroads in the Coconino National Forest. 101 pages.
