Michel de NtreDame (14 de diciembre de 1503 2 de julio de 1566), mejor conocido como Nostradamus, fue un mdico y consultor astrolgico provenzal de origen judo, considerado uno de los ms renombrados autores de profecas y eventos futuros. Su obra proftica Centurias astrolgicas y profecas fue publicada por primera vez en 1555. Desde la publicacin del libro, muchas personas se han visto atradas por sus misteriosos versos (comnmente escritos en Cuartetas). La mayora de sus seguidores afirman categricamente que Nostradamus predijo todas las catstrofes del mundo, desde su poca hasta el futuro ao 3797, fecha en que supuso que acontecer el fin del mundo. Tambin colabor con la aristocracia francesa, elaborando horscopos para la reina Catalina de Mdici, prediciendo sorprendentemente la muerte del rey Enrique II y, finalmente, siendo asignado como mdico de la corte real por Carlos IX. En contraste, muchas de las fuentes cientficas afirman que la relacin que existe entre los eventos mundiales y Nostradamus es resultado de las traducciones e interpretaciones tendenciosas, con la finalidad de que coincidan plenamente con los acontecimientos que ocurren da a da.
