Steamer analyzes the style and substance of the 15 U.S. Chief Justices who have managed the Supreme Courts business and directed the judicial machinery of the nation. Approaching the subject in a comparative rather than chronological manner, he groups the chiefs according to their leadership stylestheir inspiration and conviction, their persuasion and example, and their political and extracourt activities. He also evaluates the justices intellectual capabilities, social and political leadership, ability to manage administrative details, legal craftsmanship, and impact on constitutional interpretation and on the Supreme Court as an institution.

I found the book interesting, especially the historical context it provides. However, some sections were a bit dense to wade through, making it hard to stay engaged at times. Still, if you're into legal studies, it's worth reading.

A Deep Dive into Court Leadership
The Chief Justice book provides an insightful look into the dynamics of leadership within the Supreme Court. I bought it for my law student son, and he couldn't put it down! The analysis of key cases is particularly engaging and well-researched, making it relevant for anyone interested in the judiciary.

Not What I Expected
I was a bit disappointed with this book. It seemed like it was going to focus more on current issues, but it felt more historical than practical. Also, the print quality could've been better; some pages were blurry. Not a great purchase for my collection.
