En este libro, Garri Kasprov cuenta los diversos hechos y ancdotas de su vida hasta la actualidad. Aunque tambin se refiere a su infancia y adolescencia, o a otros temas de su vida privada, se centra sobre todo en su prolongado enfrentamiento con Krpov, a quien, segn cuenta, las autoridades soviticas y la FIDE (la Federacin Internacional de Ajedrez) protegieron durante mucho tiempo tratando de impedir, sin xito, que Kasprov, le arrebatara el ttulo de campen mundial, como ocurri en 1985, cuando slo contaba con veintids aos.
