Four years later Gregor leaves for India to find his guru and become a 'child of light' while Mireille, penniless, returns to England to introduce her son to his grandmother. Little does she realise that the boy will be more influenced by her mother's values than by her own alternative lifestyle on a houseboat among road protesters and newage travellers. Now, as spring becomes summer and wild flowers begin to fade, Mireille confronts the series of tragedies that have led her to discover again the strange magic of La Ferrou.
