El trabajo aborda el anlisis de dos dimensiones esenciales para el estudio de la enseanza universitaria: las actuaciones docentes en el aula y el pensamiento de los profesores sobre la enseanza. Desde la dcada del 70 a la fecha, ambos temas han sido objeto de investigacin a travs de diversos abordajes metodolgicos. Los modelos conceptuales que subyacen a los diferentes enfoques que analizan la complejidad de la vida en el aula han evolucionado en mayores niveles de profundidad y extensin: desde la mirada de la racionalidad tcnica, que pretende explicar las prcticas docentes mediante la verificacin de patrones de conducta esperables ante situaciones regulares en el aula, hacia una mirada constructivista que admite la singularidad y complejidad de la clase (Kane et al., 2002). La investigacin se desarrolla entre los aos 2006 y 2007 en una Universidad Privada de Argentina; su objetivo es estudiar las prcticas y concepciones sobre la enseanza que poseen 25 profesores universitarios de la carrera de medicina. Para el relevamiento de la informacin se emple una ficha de observacin de clases semiestructurada y un inventario atribucional de teoras implcitas del profesor
