Obwohl sich Coaching in den letzten Jahren als ein anerkanntes und effektives Instrument der Personalentwicklung etabliert hat sich als solches weiterhin durchsetzt, steht es vor dem Problem, trotz seines an sich unverwechselbaren Konzepts weder eine begriffliche noch inhaltliche und methodischzielbezogene Einheitlichkeit erlangt zu haben. Coaching ist zu einem inflationr gebrauchten und oftmals praktisch missbrauchten Sammelbegriff geworden, hinter dem sich viele verschiedene Anstze verbergen (vgl. BNING 2005, S. 21). Einerseits scheint jeder seine eigene Form von Coaching theoretisch entwickelt zu haben, andererseits werden verschiedenste Trainings und Seminarformen von selbsternannten Coachs als Coaching bezeichnet. Diese Problematik bedeutet sowohl fr Klienten als auch fr professionelle Praktiker ein hohes Ma an Unsicherheiten und Strfaktoren. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll daher versucht werden, das unklare Feld des Coachings anhand seiner begrifflichen Grundlagen systematisch zu erschlieen. Weil widersprchliche Begriffsbestimmungen nicht zuletzt mit seiner Entstehungsgeschichte zusammenhngen, werden im zweiten Abschnitt zunchst Ursprung und Entwicklung von Coaching" dargestellt, bevor im dritten Abschnitt eine Definition und Abgrenzung" des Begriffs stattfinden kann.
