Wir stehen inmitten eines Paradigmenwechsels (im Sinne von T. S. KuHN [KUHN 67]), der sich in der Verlagerung des (Forschungs)Interesses von symbolmanipulierenden Systemen hin zum subsymbolischen Paradigma des Paral lel Distributed Processing manifestiert. In diesem Buch werden die epistemologischen und konzeptuellen Probleme und Implikationen sowohl aus naturwissenschaftlicher als auch aus erkenntnistheoretischer Perspektive diskutiert. Dies wollen wir in drei Schrit ten tun: (i) Diskussion der Grundlagen, Begriffsklrungen und Vorstellung der Konzepte des (Radikalen) Konstruktivismus (Kapitel 2) und des Parallel Distributed Processing (Kapitel 3). Dabei steht die Darstellung des Bezuges zur Cognitive Science und zum kognitiven Modellieren im Vordergrund.
