La pregunta es: Cul es ese propsito? (Qu enseanza quera Dios comunicar a su pueblo?). El contexto cultural nos ayuda a deducir cul era ese propsito.Es importante entender que la Biblia aborda temas y motivaciones como los que enfrentamos en la actualidad. Lejos de restar relevancia a la Biblia, entender la situacin en la que fue dada nos ayuda a hacerla ms relevante (algunas veces hasta incmodamente relevante). Nos obliga a ver que las personas con quienes trat Pablo no eran simplemente conflictivas y moralmente inestables; eran personas de carne y hueso que vivan una realidad similar a la nuestra. Para entender y aplicar bien la Biblia, necesitamos dos recursos fundamentales de informacin: uno es la Biblia en s misma, el otro es una comprensin del contexto cultural del pasaje que estamos leyendo.
