Comparacin Morfolgica y Morfomtrica del Gnero Puma en Colombia: Craneal, Postcraneal y Externa (Spanish Edition),Used

En este trabajo se analiz la variacin morfolgica del gnero Puma tanto en las estructuras esquelticas como externas, con el fin de explorar posibles agrupaciones geogrficas y contribuir al conocimiento del gnero en el pas. La muestra incluye especmenes de distintos museos nacionales; de cada ejemplar se analizaron 32 medidas craneales, mandibulares y dentales; comparaciones de estructuras del postcrneo y mediciones en el pelo. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias en 28 caracteres discretos postcraneales entre las dos especies, as como diferencias en la margen posterior del palatal, tonalidades del pelaje y formas de crneo a nivel intraespecfico. Las diferencias en el margen posterior del palatal aparentan tener una asociacin geogrfica que debe ser analizada con ms detalle con la revisin de nuevos especmenes de otros pases; tanto Puma concolor como P. yagouraundi presentan gran variacin en longitud mayor del crneo, longitud basilar y ancho zigomtico. Igualmente, se desarroll una descripcin preliminar de la ontogenia en P. yagouaroundi en las que se encontraron cambios asociados al desarrollo de la especie en estructuras craneana y del pelaje.
