Product Description This book contains what I learned about the origins of two families. The Stubbs', my paternal family, migrated from Virginia to South Carolina, to Georgia, and, finally, to East Texas. The Hamptons, my maternal family, followed much the same path from Virginia to South Carolina to Georgia to Alabama, and to East Texas. Included are first hand accounts of life on the farm and in a rural community. The last part of this effort comprises an anthology of short pieces depicting events from my own life. About the Author Having lost my mother, father, and sisters at the age of twentythree months, I spent my formative years with an aunt who became my fostermother. The dispersion of my family after Willie Gertrude Hampton Stubbs died in 1936 is an underlying theme for the content of this book. I spent my formative years in Naples, Texas, in the Price household. They were not pleasant times, but my cousin/foster sister, Ella Mae Barker, emerged as the most important person in my young life. After high school graduation, I attended East Texas State Teachers College and earned a B. S. degree. I began my working career in the finance business but migrated to classroom teaching in Irving, Texas. During my seven years there, I earned an M. Ed. degree from North Texas State University. After my foray into public education, I spent twentyfive years in the pharmaceutical business. My work there ranged from a drug rep to a scientific information specialist to a regional manager, and to a national training manager. After retirement from the drug business, I spent four years in educational administration after which I retired. My wife of fiftyseven years, Nancy Jacobs Stubbs, and I produced two sons, Michael Wayne Stubbs and Mark Alan Stubbs.
