For example, the famous Model T Ford that was produced in 1913 used methods which, at the time, were extremely progressive. A long rope was attached to the chassis which was then pulled through the factory and, as the car passed by, various components were attached to it. Then there is the famous Spijker, later called the Spyker, that surely everyone has heard of. Messrs. Daimler and Benz constructed their first cars independently of each other more than one hundred years ago. Carl Benz's creation was a threewheeler with a gas engine which was testdriven for the first time through the streets of Mannheim in 1885.
