Muchos son los esfuerzos que se han realizado en el estudio del conocimiento del comportamiento dinmico de los suelos granulares, sobre todo en estado suelto, al ser sta una situacin crtica; sin embargo, menos atencin han recibido los suelos cohesivos blandos. El objetivo fundamental de este trabajo de investigacin ha consistido en el estudio del comportamiento dinmico de los suelos blandos, particularmente cohesivos, que permita desarrollar su modelizacin constitutiva. Se pretende integrar dentro de un mismo modelo marco las diferentes tendencias de comportamiento tensindeformacin observadas segn los diferentes estados de combinacin de tensin esttica y cclica; y que permita reproducir adecuadamente la generacin de presin intersticial en exceso y el fenmeno de degradacin para los suelos blandos. Adems, se pretende que la formulacin constitutiva planteada sirva para problemas ms generales y pueda ser utilizada para aplicaciones prcticas. Ello obliga a dotar de sentido fsico claro a los parmetros utilizados que deben poder deducirse de ensayos bien conocidos y a la adecuada implementacin numrica del modelo empleado.
