Qu es la comunicacin comunitaria? Originalmente, son sistemas y medios de comunicacin autctonos, utilizados por las comunidades rurales para transmitir de generacin en generacin sus costumbres, tradiciones y su herencia social. Actualmente, la comunicacin comunitaria persiste en diversas poblaciones agrarias de Latino Amrica, como respuesta a la marginacin a la que estn sujetas por los sistemas y medios nacionales de comunicacin. La comunicacin que se observa en diversos pueblos tiene como caractersticas la participacin de la comunidad y el servicio a sta a travs de informes, avisos y campaas, as como, incentiva la participacin de la poblacin en la solucin de sus problemas, valora la cultura local, rescata las tradiciones e informa de fiestas y eventos locales. Comunicacin comunitaria, vigencia y olvido, reflexiona sobre la capacidad asombrosa de las comunidades para crear sus propios sistemas y medios comunicativos, asimismo, describe diversas manifestaciones de comunicacin comunitaria observadas y propone la utilizacin de sta para hacer factible una comunicacin participativa para el desarrollo rural.
