Knowledge of the excitation characteristics of matter is decisive for the descriptions of a variety of dynamical processes, which are of significant technological interest. E.g. transport properties and the optical response are controlled by the excitation spectrum. This selfcontained work is a coherent presentation of the quantum theory of correlated fewparticle excitations in electronic systems. It begins with a compact resume of the quantum mechanics of single particle excitations. Particular emphasis is put on Green function methods, which offer a natural tool to unravel the relations between the physics of small and large electronic systems. The book contains explicit expressions for the Coulomb Green function of two charge particles and a generalization to threebody systems. Techniques for the manybody Green function of finite systems are introduced and some explicit calculations of the Green functions are given. Concrete examples are provided and the theories are contrasted with experimental data, when available. The second volume presents an uptodate selection of applications of the developed concepts and a comparison with available experiments is made

I was really looking forward to this book, but it came with a damaged spine. I've contacted customer service, and they’ve been helpful, but it’s just frustrating. The content seems good from what I’ve seen though!

Excellent resource for researchers
As a graduate student, this book is invaluable for my research on electronic systems. The depth of information is impressive, and it really dives into the details you won’t find elsewhere. It’s definitely a staple for my library.

Great for my electronics class!
I bought the Concepts of Highly Excited Electronic Systems textbook for my advanced electronics course, and it’s been super helpful. The explanations are clear, and the diagrams really enhance my understanding of complex systems. Highly recommend it for any student looking to deepen their knowledge!

Decent, but some sections are confusing
This book covers a lot of important concepts, but a few sections are a bit hard to follow. I found myself going back to my notes a lot. It’s a good resource overall but definitely not for beginners!

Not what I expected
I thought this book would have more practical examples, but it’s mostly theoretical. That said, the information is well-organized, and it’s still useful for reference. Just wish it was more hands-on!
