The final three chapters cover very important material on prestressed concrete, shell roofs and folded plate roofs. An appendix also provides many useful tables from BS8110, in addition to those included in the text. Professor Wilby's qualifications, experience and reputation make him an ideal author, and in fact the present volume builds upon, updates and expands his previous book Structural Concrete. He has personally taught much of the material covered, and provides a great number of worked examples. The student is shown how to design practical structures, and how to set out calculations as required in practice. All the author's work is in accordance with BS8110.
