This study primarily concentrates on the ability of Microfinancing in empowering the rural women. This work has taken Dakshina Kannada Disrtict (D.K. District) of Karnataka State India for empirical investigation. Reason for selecting the said District is the fact that, D.K District has largest number of SHG Microfinancing groups in Karnataka. The sample size was around 300. The book in its initial chapters has thoroughly reviewed the earlier works of various Scholars, outlined the theoretical frameworks of Microfinnace, and in later chapters it has investigated the possibilities, opportunities and challenges of Microfinancing in ensuring women empowerment. Also highlighted the efficiency of different promoters Viz; NGOs, Government and Cooperatives in Microfiiancing. Key words of the Thesis are, Selfhelp Groups, Microfinance and Empowerment.
