La primera parte del libro aborda la construccin de una cpula hemisfrica de 5 metros de dimetro, de bajo costo y simplicidad constructiva. La segunda parte trata del diseo y construccin de un telescopio tipo Newtoniano, de 0,5 metros de apertura, y su montura ecuatorial. Para cada emprendimiento se exponen los criterios de diseo, se describen las distintas partes, el sistema constructivo y el montaje del conjunto, y se ilustra el texto por medio de fotografas, esquemas y dibujos. El libro est dedicado a aquellos aficionados decididos a encarar la construccin de su propio equipamiento, esperando que algunas de las ideas expuestas sean aprovechadas en su proyecto particular.
